Laguindingan International Airport

It would perhaps increase tourism in the area, not only that a commercial airport (judging by the size) would increase trade in such harsh economic times and despite of the recent bombings and terrorism in nearby areas of Mindanao.

People from Iligan and Cagayan De Oro could hardly wait until the airport in Laguindingan is done, so they can fly directly to or from there. I’m really excited in this huge project because a lot of people in that town & nearby towns can benefit from it. This is a big opportunity for a chance of advancement and progress to all those people living in that town because this would create a lots of job opportunities because businesses would sprout in that area.  It will also significantly boost economic activities not only in Misamis Oriental but in Northern Mindanao as well, especially the Cagayan de Oro-Iligan industrial corridor which hosts dozens of big industrial plants. Hoping that the projected completion on this project for 2010 won’t get delayed and would finished on time.

Upon completion, it will be the fourth international airport in Mindanao, after General Santos International Airport in General Santos City, Francisco Bangoy International Airport in Davao City and Zamboanga International Airport in Zamboanga City, as well as the first international airport in Northern Mindanao (Region X).

Laguindingan will accommodate 16 flights daily, and cater to 1.2 million passengers as opposed to the current eight flights and 600 passenger load.

The construction of the P7.853-billion Laguindingan Airport Project (LADP) is expected to be 60% complete by end of 2009, right on target of January 2012 .
