Not knowing what happens is crucial — we’ll go bare bones here, don’t worry — but “District 9” begins by setting up a common sci-fi scenario: Two decades ago, a spaceship appeared over Johannesburg, South Africa, and simply hovered, motionless.

Once our military forced its way in, however, they found millions of starving, groggy aliens without any leader. Placed in a filthy shantytown outside Johannesburg called District 9, the “prawns” (so-called because they resemble giant crawfish) multiply and soon rebel against the rules enforced on them, as South Africa enacts laws to segregate them from humans. While moving the prawns to an even worse encampment, an Afrikaaner bureaucrat named Wikus (newcomer Sharlto Copley) needs help from a prawn called “Christopher” after Wikus is unexpectedly used and hunted by his own government agency.

Yet Christopher has secrets he doesn’t want exposed. And soon, so does Wikus.

The first 15 minutes of “District 9” uses handheld cameras and surveillance video, images that evoke “The Blair Witch Project” and “28 Days Later” in their creepiness. Then first-time director Neill Blomkamp — a protege of filmmaker Peter Jackson, who serves as producer — tells a traditional story, parts of which may remind viewers of a several classic movies and shows like “The Outer Limits.” Blomkamp, though, feasts on the metaphors without ever skimping on the action, some of which ranks with the best of its kind.
Same goes for the CGI special effects, created by New Zealand’s WETA Workshop (cofounded by Jackson) and responsible for the movie’s seamless blending of worlds. The ominous, giant ship is visible in almost every shot, and the insect-shelled prawn have wiry torsos, wiggly antennae and expressive eyes a la “The Fly.” Blomkamp makes Christopher (performed via motion-capture by actor Jason Cope) and his young alien child full-blooded characters that speak in subtitled clicks and grunts but are as real as Wikus, and even more sympathetic.

Once the more obvious aspects of the genre are addressed — the movie never feels preachy when dealing with its apartheid allegory — Blomkamp fills “District 9” with some of the summer’s most edgy, and most unsettling, thrills. That it’s full of ideas and even genuine heart make it much more than just another creature feature.

Meteor shower happens every year in August. We all loved to see those shooting stars  as it will light up our sky. They are so called Falling stars which people may I want to see to make a wish and hope their wishes will all come true.

This Perseid meteorite shower happens every year and is usually visible for a few weeks staring late July until the end of August. Hope an astronomy software will be available so we can easily see or simulate what will happen if that phenomena occurs again.

Laguindingan International Airport

It would perhaps increase tourism in the area, not only that a commercial airport (judging by the size) would increase trade in such harsh economic times and despite of the recent bombings and terrorism in nearby areas of Mindanao.

People from Iligan and Cagayan De Oro could hardly wait until the airport in Laguindingan is done, so they can fly directly to or from there. I’m really excited in this huge project because a lot of people in that town & nearby towns can benefit from it. This is a big opportunity for a chance of advancement and progress to all those people living in that town because this would create a lots of job opportunities because businesses would sprout in that area.  It will also significantly boost economic activities not only in Misamis Oriental but in Northern Mindanao as well, especially the Cagayan de Oro-Iligan industrial corridor which hosts dozens of big industrial plants. Hoping that the projected completion on this project for 2010 won’t get delayed and would finished on time.

Upon completion, it will be the fourth international airport in Mindanao, after General Santos International Airport in General Santos City, Francisco Bangoy International Airport in Davao City and Zamboanga International Airport in Zamboanga City, as well as the first international airport in Northern Mindanao (Region X).

Laguindingan will accommodate 16 flights daily, and cater to 1.2 million passengers as opposed to the current eight flights and 600 passenger load.

The construction of the P7.853-billion Laguindingan Airport Project (LADP) is expected to be 60% complete by end of 2009, right on target of January 2012 .

According to a local newspaper, it’s the biggest competitor yet for SM Cagayan de Oro because most people from Iligan and Lanao Del Norte flock to Cagayan specially in weekends just to shop and dine even if it will take them two hours. But now, since the establishment of the said mall, people will just stop over at the Gaisano Super Citi or City Mall.[ad#ad-3]

The mall over-all size is quite bigger compared to SM CDO and the facade and interiors are all well-designed like a modern place to hang-out and unwind. Personally, I found it more attractive, unlike the Gaisano Malls in Cebu. It looks better than what I have expected and perhaps, it will surely win the heart of the shoppers.

The entrance doors are sensors-enabled with the circular atrium in the center and the huge and wide parking lot for the customers. Cinemas for movie-goers and foodcourts are expected to open soon.

My other main blog managed to grab the first spot in Google.com seach query “ece board exam results”. To continue this legacy I will share to you the list of review materials available online in preparation for the ECE Licensure Examination. Tips, Tricks and Techniques were also been provided here by some of the successful board passers and mentors as well.

It’s really important to have a thorough review from EXCEL, PERCDC, EDGE or any other review center just to be guided accordingly on what specific topics will possibly come out in the exam. If you don’t have the money to sustain for the review course, self-review is ideal but for students who are really good enough in this very broad course. They’re the so-called soon-to-be-topnotchers! hehe….

I am not writing this not because I belong to the group of future topnotchers or even a board passer but I’m just an average student whose grades are fairly enough just to pass those subjects in college. Although, there are reasons why some students were not excellent in the Academe and that is too late already for one to blame as he’ll be taking in the next few months the biggest, hardest, largest, grandest, and most-celebrated examination in his life! Yeah!
